Where the hell was the kid, anyhow?
Chris Larabee shook his head, growling under his breath. He was nervous enough about today, without JD showing up late. Just getting married ... and watching your baby brother get married at the same time ... was nerve-wracking. Seeing that classic 'cat who ate the canary' expression on his oldest friend's face was even worse. And then for JD to be late ... JD, who was one of the ushers ... that, as Charlotte Richmond said earlier, took the taco.
Chris forced himself to relax and looked over at his brother, who was making sure everything was the way it should be. Chris smiled fondly at the awed expression on Vin's face. If nothing else, this wedding would be memorable for all the ways it was nontraditional. He and Mary were dressed in the usual fashion ... Chris in a tux and Mary in white. But his brother and Adriana, on the other hand, were totally different.
Adriana had noticed how uncomfortable Vin was in his tux, and put her head together with Charlotte, Mary, and Cari MacGyver. The newest member of that little group often participated in Renaissance Faires, and by pooling their resources, the women bought a 'Robin Hood' outfit from an online store which specialized in Ren Faire clothing. When Ezra found out, he was utterly speechless. For that alone, Chris had given his fiancé a long, passionate, toe-curling kiss. Not many things could make Ezra Standish shut up.
Not only was Vin far more comfortable, but he looked good in it. The only thing he was missing was a crossbow or something slung over one shoulder. Lacey had said, when she saw Vin in a tux, that it was proof positive that he loved Adriana ... because there was no way he would ever wear that for anyone else. Adriana turned it around ... her pre-wedding gift to her soon-to-be husband was proof of her love for him.
A commotion in the hallway attracted the colonel's attention, and he locked eyes with his brother, it's okay ... I'll take care of it. Vin nodded, and Chris slipped out of the room where he and Vin had been getting ready ... to find a sight he would never forget. The first thing he noticed was the ladies, having to hold onto each other. Actually, Mary and Charlotte were holding up a nearly hysterical Lacey, while Casey and Adriana just stared, mouths hanging open.
And it was then that he saw what was causing their reaction. Standing in the center of the hall way, his black hair brushing his shoulders, was JD Dunne. Chris felt his own jaw drop at the sight of the youngest member of SG-7. Nah. Couldn't be. But as Chris shook his head and focused again on the young man, his attire remained the same. Now the colonel had to decide what to do ... laugh, or kill JD. And then, he would kill Buck. After all the pictures were taken, and Chris could see Carly scurry back into the room to locate a camera. Trust Carly to be the one taking blackmail pictures.
Because Corporal JD Dunne, cartographer, was wearing a wedding dress. A long, white wedding dress, complete with a white veil cascading down his back. Chris chose to laugh, and JD glared at him, almost whining, "It ain't funny, Chris!" Like hell it wasn't! And while Chris knew exactly who initiated this particular prank, he also knew that it was simply payback for JD's own prank, earlier in the week.
"Like hell it ain't! Son, you look downright beautiful!" Buck hooted, entering the hall way behind Chris. The colonel turned to see Vin, Josiah, Ezra, and Nathan follow the major out next, Nathan stepping carefully into Vin's line of sight. He could see JD, no trouble ... but he couldn't see Adriana. Chris could see the logic in that. His baby brother and little princess had enough bad luck, just as members of the SGC ... they didn't need any more.
And in the meantime, JD had turned his glare from Chris to Buck, practically wailing, "You had them put me into a wedding dress, Buck! Ya just don't do that to a fella!" Chris had to agree with that ... but then, what comes around goes around. And swapping your best friend's underwear with a pair of ladies' panties was something else you just didn't do to a fella.
Which left Chris wondering. He happened to know that Buck had already gotten his revenge on Lacey. He heard the big man plotting with Casey earlier. Which left one person. Chris had to wonder a bit uneasily. Just what would Buck do to his younger sister, for her part in that prank?
