SERIES/UNIVERSE: SG-7

DISCLAIMERS: M7 characters belong to Trilogy, et al, SG-1 characters belong to Gekko, MGM, and Showtime. Adriana is mine ... don't mind if you borrow her, just ask first, give her back intact and give credit where credit is due. Mindy belongs to herself and my neighbors, though she still thinks my family and I belong to her.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Here's a Christmas story that just popped into my head. Forgive any spelling errors ... I'm writing this on my lunch break at work.

Mary Travis rocked back on her heels, a smile threatening to turn into a laugh as she looked at the three 'youngsters' sprawled on her floor.

She heard Chris coming up behind her, and quickly shushed him. Still, she heard the barest hint of a laugh. Mary's son Billy, Chris' younger brother Vin, and Vin's girlfriend of only two months (but friend for much longer), Adriana, were all sleeping on the floor around the tree.

"Should we wake 'em?" Chris whispered.

"No. I'm betting Vin and Adriana were up late last night, playing Santa. Let them sleep now," Mary answered softly. Too late. A dark, curly head rose and a pair of bleary hazel eyes inspected them. Mary giggled softly, adding, "On second thought, I'll go make some coffee. And when your little brother wakes up, thank him for me."

Chris nodded, smiling as Mary went into the kitchen. Adriana sat up, rubbing her eyes sleepily, and mumbled, "That is the last time I stay up for Santa." Chris laughed softly and sat down beside her and Vin. Adriana yawned again, glancing down at her still-sleeping boyfriend, and added, "He was still working when I fell asleep. This is Billy's first Christmas in the new house. Vin wanted to make sure it was special."

Chris nodded, putting his arm around his surrogate sister's shoulders. Mary and Billy had moved in with him shortly after Thanksgiving, and the transition had been difficult on the little boy. Vin learned from Mary what Billy always did around the old house at Christmas. Make it seem a little more like home. Adriana smiled lovingly down at her boyfriend once more, adding, "Guess we're really all home for Christmas, huh, cowboy?"

Chris laughed and kissed the side of her head. As he hugged her again, Adriana's dog Mindy sped in from the kitchen ... a half second after that, the pair heard Buck and JD arguing good-naturedly at the back door. Chris and Adriana looked at each other, then groaned almost in unison. Yup. They were all home for Christmas.
