Sadly, a death occured in Four Corners today. Mrs. Bridger, the lovely woman who runs the boarding house and cooked meals for the seven peacekeepers of Four Corners died early this afternoon when the peach preserves she was canning exploded en masse. It was discovered that this was not an accident. Some townspeople think it was murder because the prepared Mason jars had been replaced with non-heat treated blow up in your face regular old jars that couldn't take a hot liquid poured in them. However, this author believes it was justifiable homicide. Seeing that yet another author used the character of Mrs. Bridger without permission or acknowledgment, thus making her a member of regular fanon despite the author's known dislike of this, the creator of Mrs. Bridger had no choice but to kill her off. Rest assured the lovely woman never knew what hit her. The poor woman was found face down in a puddle of peach preserves. She never even heard the rest of her jars explode, the first one having knocked her unconscious. Lying face down in the gooey but sweet confection, Mrs. Bridger suffocated never regaining consciousness. Her absence from Four Corners will be sorely missed by not only the men she fed but by the author who really liked her a lot.
Vin Tanner was found quietly staring at some biscuits with tears coursing down his face by his friends. He swore he'd never eat another drop of peach preserves as long as he lived because the once favorite treat would now always remind him of how she died. Buck Wilmington was seated next to the former bounty hunter clutching a buttered roll to his heaving chest sobbing his heart out. He tried valiantly to speak, but he couldn't quite get the words out. He dabbed at his eyes with the Parker House roll, the last one to be baked by Mrs. Bridger. Even Ezra Standish was seen to shed several tears as he contemplated a life without those lovely beignets Mrs. Bridger lovingly fixed him on Sundays. The remaining seven had to console their friends without the aid of Nathan Jackson who was guilt ridden after trying in vain to resuscitate the dead woman. He dropped next to Ezra who had joined Vin and Buck on the steps outside the boarding house dining room. He thought aloud that if only he had some of his ditch water handy, but someone had already stolen that, too. He couldn't control himself and used one of Vin's biscuits to dry his eyes. Hungry, since Mrs. Bridger's untimely demise forced the men to go without lunch, poor JD Dunne was disconsolate and broke into hysterical sobs. Chris Larabee threw a glass of milk in the boy's face, and he was able to recover rapidly even though he smelled sour the rest of the day and no one else would stand downwind of him. He studiously avoided the Larabee glare for the rest of the day until he was finally picked up and carried into the bathhouse by his so called friends and unceremoniously dumped into a bath of hot steaming water.
Mrs. Bridger is survived by characters for whom too little is known about to bother with, so we won't. Our condolences to the readers who enjoyed Mrs. Bridger for the time we had her and to fic writers who used her without permission and must now create their own character.
Condolences to all and to all a good day,
SasseyJ
