By: Lady Angel

Note: Well, if you can't tell this is the sequel to Lucky Bastard only difference this time is that the narrator isnķt the same guy. But the soundtrack is the same ... only it's Kid Rock's Cowboy instead of Bawditba.

Note II: I hadn't planned on writing a sequel to Lucky Bastard but Winnie gave me some great feedback in which she had this one line ... well, i just had to use it and viola! Lucky Bastard II was born! So thank you Winnie! for the feedback and that line!

Last Note: I'd loved feedback! And seeing how it's my 21st birthday, i hope y'all are nice! later loves! Lady Angel.

Thanks to Karen for all her help and support.

Booted feet worked the pedals as his hands skillfully maneuvered the Jaguar Roadster through the highways of Denver. The wind blew through his hair, ruffling it with hungry fingers. Chris smiled, handling the Roadster was like handling its beautiful, spirited owner. You needed a slow, strong hand.

Behind him, Chris could hear the roar of the other four sports cars. Turning his head, Chris grinned at Vin. If the wide smile and occasional whoop was any indication, the younger man was having the time of his life driving the Prowler. On his other side, Buck was busy trying to drive the Mustang and keep his overly enthusiastic roommate from falling out of the car. JD, still seat belted, was on his knees, his arms upraised, the wind whipping his long hair back. It was almost like flying.

In another lane, Ezra's Jaguar purred with power as the undercover agent manipulated it through traffic. With one hand guiding the steering wheel and his light brown head against the headrest, Ezra was at completely at ease. The last lane of the highway was occupied by the last two members of Team Seven. Josiah easily kept up with the speed that his team leader had set and Nathan simply sat back and enjoyed the sensation of the wind rushing at him.

Even though it was rush hour and thousands of other vehicles were on the road, the five speed demons had no difficulty getting out of the city. It was almost as if the drivers knew the danger the five cars and their drivers posed. Whatever it was, Team Seven effortlessly took up the entire freeway.

"Wonder how much longer we can go at this speed before someone stops us?" Nathan yelled over the wind and traffic. Josiah grinned and shrugged. He was having too much fun driving the Austin Healy to care.

Soon enough Nathan had his answer. The five cars had just hit the Four Corners' subdivision that lay in between Denver and Chris's ranch when several flashing lights reflected in their rear view mirrors.

"Do ya think Chris will stop?" JD asked Buck as he twisted in his seat to count a total of eight patrol units hot on their trail. Buck shrugged, watching the silver Roadster for his cue.

"Looks like it!" Buck said as he slowed the Mustang. JD looked up in surprise to see Chris pull over into a nearly empty parking lot. The Prowler, Jag, Austin Healy, and Mustang were right behind him. As well as all eight black and whites.

"Is there a problem officer?" Chris's innocent tone didn't match the devil-may-care grin on his face. The question was addressed to the officer closest to the Roadster.

"Damn, Larabee! Should've known it was you!" Officer Gabriel Higgins looked down at the ATF agent in the rather expensive sports car.

"Gabe." Chris stepped out of the car and shook his old friend's hand.

"Gee, Larabee, your entire team taking kickbacks now?" Higgins eyed the five cars. Team Seven all laughed, none taking offense. They knew he was kidding. Higgins had backed them up too many times.

"Are you kidding, Gabe? These cars belong to the four sweetest looking fillies you've ever seen!" Wilmington exclaimed from the Mustang.

"Really?" Higgins took in Larabee's huge smirk. "That why you're in such a sure fire hurry to get home?"

"Officer Higgins, if you had these four young ladies waiting for your return, you too would be driving 90 miles an hour." Standish stood up from his Jag as he answered for Larabee.

Higgins grin. "Well, just watch your speed." Shaking Larabee's hand, the seasoned officer walked back to his patrol unit. Higgins watched as Team Seven saluted the other patrol officers and he could see all the envious looks the beat cops were giving the ATF agents. On the way back to his patrol unit, he noticed the way his young rookie partner was eyeing Larabee.

"Eddie?"

The rookie's name was Wina Traves. But everyone in the department called her "Eddie", which was short for "Fast Eddie". The girl was lightening quick--with her gun, her wit and her practical jokes.

She sighed longingly. "Mr. Larabee wears that Roadster like he wears them pants ... tight and wild."

Higgins chuckled.

The five cars pulled out of the empty parking lot then stopped at the traffic light. Already there was a car full of teenage girls and behind them another truck of teenage boys. Vin pulled the Prowler into the furthest right lane, Chris was to his left. Josiah stopped in the far left lane while the Mustang pulled in between the girls' jeep and the Austin Healy. Ezra stopped his Jag behind Chris.

The girls' eyes widened at the seven gorgeous guys in five equally gorgeous cars surrounding them. They began whispering amongst themselves. Some of the guys were kinda old, but that didn't stop them from sending flirtatious smiles at them. The boys in the truck watched in opened mouth awe as the girls they had been following for 15 minutes flirting with a bunch of old guys in fancy cars.

"I can't believe they let us go!" JD exclaimed to Chris over the girls' Jeep.

"Don't cha just love the ėgood ol' boys' system?" Josiah said, leaning his head back, getting comfortable. This particular light was notorious for its long red light.

The girls heads bounced between the Mustang on one side and the Roadster on their other side. One girl finally got the nerve to talk.

"Hi." The little redhead teenager was leaning out of the jeep towards JD.

He smiled. "Hi."

"Nice cars!" Another young woman piped up from the other side.

Just as JD was about to say ėthank you', he heard something that made him burst out laughing.

"Well, I'm packin' up my game and I'm a-headin' out west ... " blared through the speakers.

"JD?" Vin asked from the other side of Chris.

JD didn't answer, instead he sang along with the music playing on all four sports cars' speakers. Vin listened intently to the music as he saw JD grin wider, then he too started laughing. The five other agents exchanged baffled looks.

"Kid Rocking and I'm the Real McCoy. And I'm headin' out west, sucker ... "

JD and Vin grinned at each other, both knowing what the next part was. Both waited, then sang at the top of their lungs.

" ... because I wanna be a COWWWWWWWBBBOOOOOOYYYYYYY, baaaaaaabbbbbbeeeeeeeeee! With the top laid back and the sunshine shining!"

The two youngest agents continued singing along with the chorus, damn near screaming "Cowboy".

Buck, Ezra, Nathan and Josiah started chuckling as Chris shook his head, dropping it onto the headrest.

The light turned green and the five cars peeled through the intersections leaving several sighing young ladies and several young bucks muttering one thing.

"Lucky bastards."

The rest of the way to the ranch was uninterrupted flattop and the ATF agents made the most of it, racing each other at nearly 90 miles/hour. Once out of the subdivision, the agents decided to let the full power of their new toys be tested. While booted feet simultaneously stepped onto the clutch and off the gas, right hands easily shifted into fifth gear. The clutch was let off and the gas pressed again, shooting the cars to speeds upwards of 165 miles/hour.

Within in minutes they reached the ranch and spun to a complete stop, kicking up dust.

"So, Chris, you gonna introduce us now?" Buck asked as the seven men exited the cars.

"Buck, they're probably asleep. You heard them, long case. Leave ėem be." Chris turned to his men, his back to the house.

"C'mon, you can't just expect us to drive these cars here and not meet their owners?" Vin exclaimed.

"And how are we suppose to get home?" JD eagerly asked, wanting to meet the four beauties as well.

"Yes, I expect you to go home without meeting them and you can take the Ram and Ezra's Jag home. Besides, like I just told Buck, they're probably asleep," Chris answered both Vin and JD's question in his ėdo as I say and don't shit with me' tone. He watched as his men grumbled but he knew he had won the fight. He handed the Ram's spare keys to Vin and watched as they turned to go. That's when something hit him in the back of the head.

The others watched curiously as Chris reached up to pull some silky white material off his head. Chris shook it out, holding it by two thin straps. He realized it was a white silk teddy and looked up to see his men's gapping mouths. Behind him, Chris heard feminine laughter. He turned and raised a single eyebrow at the four young women hanging out of his bedroom window. They were blowing him kisses, sending him come hither looks and beckoning him into the house.

He grinned and walked towards the house. "See ya tomorrow boys."

Six men watched as their team leader walked into the house and firmly shut the door behind him. The four girls had long since vanished from the window and their laughter, along with a rumble of male laughter, could be heard within.

The six men chorused the same thought. "Lucky bastard."
