Author's Notes: I had a really bad cold, spending hours in a daze because of cold medicine, and half the time forgot my name. This beta-free fluff is the result of that daze. Thanks to Cin for giving me a good ending!!
"I did what?" Nathan asked.
"You promised to go with me to the opera tomorrow night. Black tie, remember?" Josiah stared at his friend.
"When did I do this?" Jackson queried.
"Last week."
"I had a cold last week."
"I know, or did you forget the supplies I brought you?"
"No, I didn't forget those. I thanked you then, and I'll thank you again now. But I don't remember much about last week."
Josiah tilted his head. "Why not? You usually only take vitamins to treat a cold."
There was no reply.
"Nathan, did you finally break down and take some cold medicine? You told me it fogs your brain, and you hate losing control."
Jackson looked away.
"You did. That's why you don't remember."
"Look, my head was so congested that I couldn't sleep, couldn't lie down, and couldn't sit still for long. I needed rest, so I bought something and took it. You probably called me then."
"Hmm." Josiah considered for a second. "Can you still go? I'd like you to be there."
"Yeah, I can go."
"How about Rain? I have an extra ticket."
"You planned this," Nathan said suddenly. "It's a double date, isn't it?"
"I might have be blessed with an escort of my own," Josiah allowed.
"Uh-huh. You're sneaky, Josiah Sanchez."
"Are we going?"
"I'll call Rain." After making a quick phone call, Nathan sighed. "We'll be there. Give me the details."
Josiah wrote down the information, and handed his friend the tickets. "I'll see you there." Whistling, Sanchez disappeared into the cantina.
"That's the last time I take a cold medicine that messes up my head," Nathan said to himself. "I don't want to think of what other medicated promises I made him." He shuddered. "Or any of the others, for that matter."
From down the hall, JD's voice reached him. "Hey, Nathan, are you ready? I've got our gear down in Buck's truck."
His head hit the desk.
THE END... or is it?
